Meet the Designer
Sam Chen is the Designer behind TOA. His career began in the fashion industry at a very young age. Sam was surrounded by his family of creative individuals. When he was a child, his grandmother taught him how to sew and repair hems on garments. He recalled the days when he visited his mother at an apparel garment factory, where his mother was a seamstress. This past experience would spark the interest in him wanting to learn more about industry. In his teen years, Sam was determined to get into the fashion industry and some day start his own business. He worked his way up into retail and then management. After graduating from the Art Institute of California - San Francisco, with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Management, he took a leap of faith and ventured out into the jewelry industry by working for a small startup jewelry business and learning the trade. After a year of joyful learning and experience along with his years of designing, product development, as well as wholesale and retail skills, he created his first line in women's jewelry, Thesis of Alexandria (TOA).
